Letter from the Partners

Most people approach finding a job like an Easter egg hunt. The would-be employee is the hunter; he or she searches for a company with a goose that lays the golden egg—a job. We advise a different approach. We start by giving you a whole new mindset—that of a salesperson. And the product is YOU. We teach you to create your own brand, to package, market and sell yourself as a unique set of talents and experience. Now, the company is the buyer, and it is you who are bringing value to the table.

Job hunting is both an art and a science. Our advisors are all seasoned executives who collectively bring to the table a broad and diverse set of experiences in the corporate, private, and government sectors. Our work and life experiences cover five continents, multiple industries, companies small and large, private and public. We draw on our experiences as entrepreneurs, franchise owners, and perpetual students of the corporate and business worlds.

A unique perspective that we share is that of executive recruiter. Many people will tell you that if you are interviewed and don’t get the job, it is probably because of a lack of “chemistry.” We disagree. A lack of chemistry is just an excuse for the real reason you didn't get the job. It is easier to go from failure to success than from excuses to success. We know from our experience building great teams for our client companies that the most successful candidate is not necessarily the smartest, the most experienced, or the most talented. It is almost always, the person who is the best prepared.

Another very popular notion in these troubling times is that the secret to success is a positive attitude. A good outlook is certainly an important element of success in good times as well as bad, and it is fine to hope for the best, but we firmly believe that just as refusing to say the “R” word would not have prevented the recession, hope is not a strategy. What we do is to give you a strategy and a plan—a strategy that, if fully implemented, will lead you to your ultimate goal—the next step to a fruitful and successful career.

As in most endeavors, people don’t plan to fail; they fail to plan. The time to plan is before you lose your job. Be proactive. Put yourself in control of your destiny--before the choice is no longer yours to make.

We look forward to working with you and helping you to achieve your goals.  And remember, any skill improvement is an investment in yourself that will continue to pay dividends—not only in your professional life, but in your personal life, as well—for many years to come. Increase the predictability of the outcome now. You’re worth it.

Sincerely,

Eugenia Kaneshige & Joe Norwood
